Police identified the victim as Shaneem Saxena. “She was a teacher at a private school near Jawahar Circle. The accident took place when she was heading home from school on her scooter,” said assistant sub-inspector (ASI), accident police station (North), Neki Ram. According to Galta Gate police station constable Indaraj, a truck ploughed into Saxena’s scooter. “Her body was severely damaged in the accident and parts were scattered all over the road,” he said.
According to Neki Ram, the accident took place shortly after 4pm. A few minutes later some people informed the control room about the mishap. “She was a resident of Nangal Susawatan in Amber area. We have informed her family members about the accident,” Ram said.
Her body has been kept at the SMS Hospital mortuary and a post-mortem would be conducted on Thursday. Police said that they have identified the multi-axle truck and detained its driver.
Truck was moving towards Delhi
“The accident was so horrific that her scooter was also crushed. The truck was moving towards Delhi from the Transport Nagar area,” said an official. Jaipur police said the truck driver tried to flee from the scene, but people nabbed him.
