Allergy Pollens Found In Air 1st Time This Season | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Its that time of the year when people with pollen allergies need to take precautions. Holoptelea integrifolia tree, commonly known as Bander ki Roti, is the most allergenic plant pollen of the city and it was found in the air on Wednesday, the first time this season.
Holoptelea integrifolia pollen remains in very high concentration in the air for one to two months. The presence of this pollen in the air is not good for people who are susceptible to allergies.
This pollen is detected in the air with the help of an instrument known as Burkard pollen counter. It is a pollen entrapment machine, which has been installed at the rooftop of Asthma Bhawan in Vidhyadhar Nagar.
“This pollen is present in higher concentration during morning and evening. Patients who have allergies to this plant should avoid going outside their houses and should cover the nose and mouth properly with a triple layered mask during morning and evening,” said Dr Nishtha Singh, senior pulmonologist at Asthma Bhawan.
Doctors advised people with pollen allergies to limit their outdoor activities during this season. It is the beginning of the allergic season and in the coming days, the city may witness an upsurge in the number of allergy patients visiting city hospital OPDs.
Normally, this peak pollen season remains until the end of April and patients come to hospitals with various symptoms including nasal watery discharge, breathing problems, wheezing, burning eyes and rashes.
In Jaipur, one can find Holoptelea tree in large numbers. Most people are not aware about its ill effects. The trees are commonly found in government parks, Central Park, Gandhi Nagar and Vaishali Nagar where people go for morning walk and fall ill.
Around 10% patients of asthma patients suffer from Holoptelea allergy.
