JAIPUR: A team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday arrested a junior engineer (electrical and mechanical engineering) at the office of garrison engineer, military engineering services (MES), Jaipur, for allegedly demanding and taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from an electrician helper employed on contract basis at MES Jaipur.
According to CBI sources, a case was registered on the complaint by the electrician helper against Vinod Kumar, the junior engineer, and Sanotsh Kumar Pandey, an HR manager for a private company in Noida, that they had demanded a bribe for continuing with his services on contract basis.
The complainant stated that he was employed by the MES through a Noida private company, which was paying his salary.
“It was alleged that the junior engineer in conspiracy with manager (HR) of the said private company demanded bribe of Rs 26,000 and agreed to accept Rs 16,000 as first installment ,” said CBI spokesperson RC Joshi on Tuesday.
“Pandey would also be questioned, and his role would be probed,” Joshi added.
The CBI laid a trap and caught the junior engineer red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant as first installment, Joshi said. Later, searches were conducted at 5 places, including in Jaipur, Sriganganagar, Ghaziabad and Noida, at the premises of the accused.
