‘police To Analyse Hc Judgment Acquitting Jaipur Blasts Accused’ | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Police will conduct an internal audit and analyse the Rajasthan High Court order that acquitted four people in the 2008 Jaipur serial blasts while terming the probe “shoddy”. DGP Umesh Mishra on Monday said he is examining the order and probing the case to ascertain what went wrong.
He was addressing a press conference where he spoke on various issues including police crackdown on criminals, murder of Dalit woman in Barmer, and acquittal of four accused in Jaipur blasts case.
On a question by TOI on the high court’s order, Mishra said, “A proposal has been sent to the state government for filing a special leave petition in the Supreme Court. There is a strong ground for an appeal.”
“We have taken the comments of the court seriously and are examining the files in detail and will certainly introspect. I will inquire what went wrong,” the DGP told at a press conference at the police headquarters in Jaipur.
The DGP said the process of examining the facts has already begun. Also, talking about the case of Dalit woman, who was raped and burnt with acid in Barmer, Mishra, said, “The ‘dying statement’ of the Dalit woman who was allegedly raped and burnt with acid in Barmer would be crucial in securing strict punishment to the accused. The family members of the victim are satisfied with the police action taken so far.” The victim in her statement before death mentioned the name of the accused who was later arrested by the police, Mishra added.
On April 6, accused Shakoor Khan allegedly raped the 30-year-old Dalit woman at her house and set her ablaze by pouring inflammable material on her.
She died during treatment at a hospital in Jodhpur on April 7. The victim’s body was cremated on Sunday after a post-mortem.
