To become a super-specialty centre, the hospital plans to add cardiology, neurology and urology units. The institute of virology will also help in research and early testing of viruses. The concept for the institute of tropical diseases has been taken from the School of Tropical Medicines in Kolkata while the same for the institute of virology has been conceptualised on the lines of National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune, a premier institute.
