Tap Water: State Panel Seeks Extension Of Jjm Deadline Till 2026-27 | Jaipur News

Jaipur: After chief minister Ashok Gehlot and public health and engineering department (PHED) minister Mahesh Joshi demanding special status for Rajasthan in Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), chairman of the state-level implementation and coordination committee of the twenty-point programme (BISUKA) Chandrabhan has demanded that the union government extend the deadline for JJM till 2026-27.
“The state has different challenges in different districts to provide tap water connections in rural households. The union government should consider these problems seriously and extend the deadline for JJM at least till 2026-27,” Chandrabhan told TOI following a review meeting of BISUKA programmes in Jaipur district on Monday.
Former presidents of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee stated that Jaipur as a district has completed over 90% targets of implementing BISUKA programmes in the first quarter of this financial year. In the last financial year Jaipur district had managed to achieve around 73% of its target. “Our review on the progress of works had revealed that only district administration or the state government is not responsible for such performance. We found out that in several schemes the union government is taking the BISUKA programmes seriously,” added Chandrabhan.
Last year, members of the state level implementation committee were frustrated with the officials of a few districts for manipulating data of works done under the BISUKA programmes. Members had alleged that data provided by the district administration were not matching with the state data and with the report of the field inspections conducted by the members.
“Such problems had reduced to a great extent this financial year. Although there are some data-related problems in a few districts, these discrepancies are negligible and can be sorted out soon,” Chandrabhan said.
