Third Gender Category: Huge rise in voting of third gender category |

Jaipur: There has been a significant rise in the voting of the third gender category in this over the 2018 assembly elections in Rajasthan. There has been a 34.33% increase in their voting in rural areas and 16.67 per cent increase in urban areas over last elections, according to data received from the state’s election department.
The third gender category registered 20.56% voting in rural areas in the 2018 assembly polls and in 2023, they registered 54.89% voting.In urban areas, the third gender category registered 40.77% voting in 2018, and in 2023, they registered 57.44% voting in the state.
While there was 0.79% increase in women voting in urban areas this time over the 2018 assembly polls, men registered 1.15% increase in voting over 2018. In rural areas, while women voting dipped by 0.11% in this election over 2018, men voting increased by 0.60% over 2018 assembly polls.
There was a 0.97% increase in urban voting this year over the 2018 assembly elections in Rajasthan, data from the state’s election department revealed. While in 2018 the urban voting in the state was 70.26%, it went up to 71.23% in 2023. Sawai Madhopur registered the highest increase in urban voting at 3.10%.

After lowest vote in 2018 elections, ECI tries to shore up Malakpet voter turnout
In 2018, Malakpet, Yakutpura, and Nampally had the lowest voter turnout in the entire state. The voting percentage in some polling stations in Malakpet was less than 20%. This election, the number of polling booths has increased to 300. The assembly segment includes Azampura, Old Malakpet, Saidabad, Moosrambagh, and Chadarghat areas. Officials have conducted over 300 meetings with resident welfare associations to increase voter participation. Despite Hyderabad’s high literacy rate, the voting percentage in segments falling under Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has never crossed 60%.
