Tau Protein: Congress May Promise Legal Guarantee For Msp | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: In a bid to woo farmers ahead of assembly elections 7in Rajasthan, the Congress party may promise a law to ensure legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP) of their agricultural produce in its manifesto. Farmers of the state have been demanding this for a long time.
Taking a cue from Bihar, it may also promise to increase the overall reservation in jobs and education in Rajasthan to 75% following a caste survey in the state.Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot had announced in August that the state would raise OBC reservation from 21% to 27%, with the additional 6% being for the benefit of the most backward sections within the category.
At present, Rajasthan has 64% reservation: 21% for OBCs, 16% for SCs, 12% for STs, 10% for EWS and 5% for most backward class (MBC). Apart from that, the manifesto may promise declaring Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) a ‘state project’, and the whole budget for the same will be sanctioned in the first budget, instead of releasing it in phases.
“On ERCP, the state government will not be dependent on the Centre anymore. It will be promised to complete the project in five years. Priority will be given to drinking water and irrigation under the ERCP project. Around 53 dams have already been linked, the remaining smaller dams will also be linked. The above-mentioned suggestions have been given to the manifesto committee and there has been an agreement on all these,” said Himmat Singh Gurjar, who is a member of the manifesto committee.
“Environment will be given importance in the manifesto. Food processing units will be set up in all the tehsils,” he added.
