Tonk Man’s Death To Be Probed By Crime Branch | Jaipur News
Jaipur: The death of a 20-year-old man that sparked protests at Peeplu village in Tonk on Wednesday would be investigated by the crime branch. The decision was taken by the state police headquarters on the orders issued by the chief minister’s office on Sunday.
Three police personnel were suspended after Shankar Meena’s death sparked protests. Locals organised a protest at Peeplu village and blamed the death on the aides of a local bajri leaseholder. The protestors did not take the body for the last rites till they got an assurance of a Rs 50-lakh compensation for Meena’s family, a contractual job for one of his kin, and arrests in this case. It was alleged that Meena was murdered by the local bajri Mafia.
ADGP (crime) Dinesh MN said on Sunday that investigation of the case has been handed over to the crime branch. TNN
