Tough Time For Flyers As Netas Add To Rush At Jaipur Airport | Jaipur News

Jaipur: With movement of political leaders increasing in the state before elections, passengers at Jaipur airport are facing problems due to excess traffic congestion. Passengers have complained that there are no separate lanes for VIP and passenger movement causing rush outside the airport.
With the movement of political leaders, supporters in large numbers are also present outside the airport with a fleet of vehicles which congests the area from where passengers enter the airport.“I went to pick up my family from the airport on Wednesday and had to wait for at least half-an-hour as there was so much rush due to arrival of political leaders,” said a relative of a passenger.
Officials said that the congestion is due to expansion of the airport as gates are being constructed and increased movement due to the elections.
“With elections, the footfall at the airport has increased a lot and facilities are being developed but at present, there is more than usual crowd outside the airport. Tourist season has also started, so that has also increased the passenger movement. In case of political leaders, their supporters also come and gather outside the airport leading to a rush,” said a senior airport official.
Earlier this year, officials from Jaipur airport had said that the porch area outside is being expanded from three lanes to six lanes to avoid traffic jams during VIP movement. The entry and exit gates at airport premises are also being shifted and a new exit gate will be constructed near the two-wheeler parking area while the entry gate will be constructed near the VIP parking of terminal 2. “The construction work outside the airport for making new entry gates is also leading to traffic congestion but arrangements are being made to ensure that passengers do not face problems and there is smooth movement,” added the official.
