Tourist Pick Up: Stakeholders oppose rule on tourist pick up – Ranthambore | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The implementation of a new rule by the forest department that safari vehicles will no longer pick up tourists directly from their hotels, has not been well-received by stakeholders. These stakeholders argue that this is another move that will negatively impact their business and discourage tourists from visiting Ranthambore.
A hotel owner, who preferred not to be quoted, expressed dissatisfaction, stating, “The new system has been implemented without making adequate arrangements.Vehicles are now parked on the roads, and tourists have to reach there and board the vehicle. Picking them up from where tourists are staying was an additional facility; however, forest department policies seem to unnecessarily target tourism. The forest department’s behaviour is autocratic, and decisions are taken without consulting the stakeholders.”
Under the new system, tourists will need to go either to Shilpgram or the road entry point. The forest department has provided a relaxation of up to 15 minutes for tourists who may experience a delay from the scheduled time of visiting the park. However, tourists must inform the guide and driver. If a tourist does not arrive at the designated place within this timeframe, the tourist vehicle may leave without them, proceeding on the park tour with other present tourists. A booking agent, Amit Sharma, commented, “Ranthambore attracts niche tourists from across the globe. Making them stand on the roads is not a good decision. The tender document mentions that vehicle owners have to pick up guests from the hotels.”
