Traffic Flow: 1,500 Police Personnel Deployed To Deal With Diwali Traffic In Jaipur | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Nearly 1,500 police personnel have been deployed with the specific purpose of ensuring the smooth flow of vehicular traffic in the city for Diwali season this year.
This strategic deployment has enabled the police to effectively address the issue of persistent traffic congestion, which was a common occurrence during previous festival seasons.In areas like Chaura Rasta, Chotti Chaupar, Johri Bazaar, and Kishanpole Bazaar within the Walled City, visitors who came to enjoy the iconic festival decorative lights reported a manifold increase compared to past years. However, this also led to long snarls of traffic jams on Friday night on the occasion of Dhanteras.
Additional commissioner of police (traffic), Rahul Prakash, stated that the traffic police had deployed all available personnel for Diwali duty, strategically allocating locations to ensure smooth traffic flow. “In addition to increased deployment, we also enforced strict no-parking rules, which occasionally hindered traffic flow,” Prakash said.
He also mentioned that vendors and shopkeepers often extended their items onto the pavements and roads, causing further traffic slowdowns. “We began our preparations for the festive season much earlier, holding meetings and discussing potential problem areas with local officers. Once the encroachments were removed, many issues were resolved,” he said, adding that special focus was paid on resolving bottlenecks that led to traffic problems.
“In the past, we observed that haphazard parking caused many problems, as people would often park their vehicles anywhere along the roadside, leading to traffic congestion. Hence we made sure to prevent such issues,” he said.
He said that all police personnel were also directed to remain alert at all times.
