JAIPUR: It may take around six months to streamline the traffic movement on Jaipur-Ajmer expressway as work is going on to build eight flyovers, said National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) regional officer and general manager, Jaipur, Harish Sharma.
Sharma said eight diversions have been created at all the 8 locations to divert the traffic where construction work is underway. The diversions have been created after proper planning and in consultations with the police department of Rajasthan.
“Flyovers are being built to remove the blackspots at these eight locations. People may face some problems now due to the construction work. Moreover, we can’t go beyond the right of way (ROW) to do construction work. It may take three hours now (to reach Ajmer from Jaipur), but once the flyovers are complete, it will take 1.5 hours. It may take another six months to ensure smooth traffic movement on Jaipur-Ajmer expressway,” said Sharma.
“The section extending from Bichoon Mod to Mehla has become perilous during night-time as cars find themselves navigating alongside massive trucks and buses. Car drivers contend with limited space, finding themselves pushed to the edge of the road, where there is a heightened risk of their vehicles veering off course and flipping over,” said Kailash Talwariya, who travels daily on the route.
