Transplant: Transplants No Hurdle For These Athletes | Jaipur News

Jaipur: On March 17,2011, Syed Mujahid Ali Naqvi, had undergone kidney transplant, after his kidneys failed to function, but he fought back after his sister donated a kidney to him. More than 13 years have passed after undergoing the transplant, Naqvi is enjoying every moment of his life.
He is one of the participants of the 12-member team from India taking part in Petanque Transplant Asian Open Championships 2023 organised by the Transplant Sport Association of Thailand from September 21-24, 2023 in Bangkok.
Naqvi, who is a tax consultant, said, “It was an opportunity for me to go to another country with other athletes from my country participating in a sports event, so I grabbed it. We are enjoying here and winning medals, celebrating for each medal we won. Transplant is not something which prevents you from remaining active.” He added, “Petanque is a sport which is like mini golf. Players from seven countries who have undergone liver or kidney transplants are participating.”
The others participants from India are Harsh Vardhan Singh, Hitesh Sharma, Amit Sharma, Dr Giriver Sharan Sharma, Bhawani Singh and Parag Kamal Sharma.
Amit Sharma, had undergone transplant on January 19, 2015, while Harsh Vardhan Singh, disease was diagnosed in 2007 and he had undergone transplant in August 2017.
The athletes from the state had undergone transplant in different years but they have shown others by leading an active life and taking part in the sports event.
Recently while discussing at a state government consultation programme on vision 2030, the organ recipients, who are athletes too, had demanded from the state government to include such organ recipients in the ‘Divyangjan’ category.

CM’s instant nod gives wings to organ transplant, saves donated liver
The Madhya Pradesh government lent its helicopter to transport a donated liver from Jabalpur to Bhopal, saving a liver failure patient’s life. The liver had to be brought to Bhopal quickly, as the journey by road would have taken too long. A doctor sent a request to CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who approved it within 10 minutes. A medical team flew to Jabalpur in 45 minutes and the liver transplant surgery was successfully conducted in Bhopal.

Joka Metro: 700 Maidan trees to be transplanted
Over 700 full-grown trees, mainly in Kolkata’s Maidan area, will be transplanted for the construction of the Kidderpore-Esplanade section of the Joka-Esplanade corridor. The implementing agency, RVNL, plans to conduct a second tree survey with the army to ensure at least 50 trees are kept intact. The Maidan, covering 60% of the city’s green verge, is considered the lungs of Kolkata. L&T, the contractor for the project, is preparing the site for pre-construction work, including tree transplantation. The main construction is expected to begin after the puja festival.
