Tricolour sales soar in Jaipur, so does the price | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Shops selling the national flag wholesale in the city saw long queues of people waiting to buy a tricolour and participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative as part of the ‘Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations.
Tricolour sellers in the city said about 5,000 to 6,000 flags were being sold by each wholesale shop daily for the past few days. “People are coming in large numbers to buy flags because they feel patriotic and want to show their love for the country by putting up flags on their houses. The Har Ghar Tiranga initiative is not mandatory, but the response is very good. We sell about 5,000 to 6,000 flags daily,” said Lokesh Agarwal, a flag dealer who has a shop at Tripolia Bazaar.
Flag dealers said the sales would have been higher had there not been a shortage of raw materials. They are happy that people are buying the tricolour despite a rise in price caused by the shortage of flags.
“This time, companies are directly placing orders from factories. In the shops, we are witnessing individuals buying 15-20 flags. This time, due to such higher demand, there is a shortage from the production end, due to which prices have also risen. But people are still buying,” said Vishnu Aggarwal, a flag dealer.
The dealers said flags that used to cost Rs 10 a piece are now being sold for Rs 25 each. “Due to heavy rains, flag producers are also facing problems as the paint does not dry up on time,” said a dealer.
