Truck Highway: 2 Killed As Car Rams Into Truck On Highway-68 In Barmer Dist | Jaipur News
Jaisalmer: In a fatal accident on national highway-68, just 5 km from Barmer city in Sadar police station area, late on Monday evening. Two cousin brothers died and the wife of one of them was seriously injured when the Maruti Swift car they were travelling in rammed head-on into a trailer truck.
The trailer dragged the Swift car for about 30 feet on the highway. The car was completely crushed and of the three passengers in it, Ashok, 21, and his cousin Manoj, 22, died while Ashok’s wife Santosh, 21, was seriously injured, police said.
A Mahindra Scorpio car coming from behind also collided with the car but the passengers in it sustained no injuries due to airbags opening in time.
The accident caused a jam on the highway and a crowd gathered. A video of the accident was captured on the CCTV camera of a restaurant. The restaurant staff, who were the first to reach the spot, said they heard a loud bang after which they rushed out to the accident site.
Sadar police circle officer Kishan Singh said that the car was going from Barmer towards Dhorimanna. He said people nearby sent all three passengers to the district hospital in an ambulance.
Singh said that Ashok had come with his wife and cousin to a Barmer hospital where his elder brother’s wife was admitted for delivery of child. They were returning from the hospital when the accident took place.
