Two Robbers Loot Over ₹5 Lakh From Bank At Gunpoint In City | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: Two armed men stormed into a bank in Saipura village under Jaisinghpura Khor police station and looted over Rs 5 lakh at gunpoint on Thursday afternoon.
Assistant commissioner of police (Amer ) Chandra Singh Rawat said that the accused robbed over Rs 5.50 lakh from the bank. He said that the incident took place at the Rajasthan Marudhara Gramin Bank (RMGB).
Local police said that the incident took place shortly after 2.30 pm when two men on a bike reached the bank. There were three employees, including a cashier, present inside the bank. One of the accused was wearing a mask and holding a gun, whereas another covered his face with a helmet and waved a knife at bank employees.
The accused robbed cash from the bank teller’s cabin before locking up employees in a room. The accused robbed the bank within a span of a few minutes. They fled on a bike after threatening the employees.
The employees managed to free themselves and called for help. A team of senior officials reached the scene and examined the place.
A team of forensic experts, led by senior scientific official Abhay Pratap Singh reached the scene and collected samples. Sources said that forensic teams recovered the knife used by the accused near the cash counter.
“The accused had dropped the knife while collecting cash,” an official said.
Police also discovered that someone had cut off one of the CCTV’s power supplies on Wednesday night, “The accused probably came to the bank sometime on Wednesday late night. They cut off the alarm and siren system to the bank,” said an official.
The city police said that the accused had conducted a thorough recce of the bank. “The accused barged into the bank when there were no customers. They quickly robbed the cash and fled,” the official added.
The city police sent details of the accused to nearby police stations even as checks and searches were conducted at nearby areas in search of the fleeing suspects.
