UK-Based Woman: Court Junks Uk-based Woman’s Application For ₹15 Lakh Maintenance |

Jaipur: The additional chief judicial magistrate court no 6 of Jaipur Metro-I rejected the application of providing maintenance allowance of Rs 15 lakh per month to a woman and her two daughters living in England, as domestic violence against the husband and in-laws was not proved.
The court of presiding officer said that the applicant Monisha Meena, who is an ophthalmologist, had expressed the need of maintenance for herself and her two daughters. “She is not physically and mentally unfit. She is highly educated and is earning a good income. In such a situation, she can support herself and her daughters,” the court said.
Sharing the order of the court on Tuesday, Deepak Chauhan, the counsel for Aadtiya Meena, the woman’s husband, said, “The applicant woman in her application mentioned that she has been physically, mentally and sexually harassed, but no medical document or any other certificate have been presented in this regard. She has also accused her husband of keeping her hostage for ten days in August 2009, physically torturing her and violating her privacy. Still no legal or social action was taken in this regard by the applicant’s family. In such a situation, on the basis of these facts, domestic violence has not been proved against the other parties including the husband.”
The court was hearing an application for interim maintenance allowance under the Domestic Violence Act. It was said in the application that she was married to the applicant in November 2008 in Jaipur. tnn
