Jaipur: Unidentified gunmen shot dead a 50-year-old Congress office-bearer in Maniya town of Dholpur district on Friday evening.
The incident occurred when Mehtab Singh Gurjar, working as Congress mandal president, was passing through a market when the suspects attacked him. Gurjar was hit by indiscriminate gunfire and was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Following the attack, the assailants quickly fled the market. Police officials have reported that a major combing operation is currently underway in the district as they intensively search for the suspects with armed police force.
Police teams that arrived at the scene also established a blockade and cordoned around the town, but they could not locate the attackers. The victim’s body was placed in the district hospital’s mortuary, where a large crowd had gathered. To police increased security presence throughout Maniya town.
