Unsafe School Bldgs: Shrc Seeks Report | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has asked the additional chief secretary (ACS), school education, to furnish the details of schools functioning in dilapidated buildings in the state and the steps taken by the department on the safety of the children studying in these schools.
The commission issued the order taking suo motu cognisance of media reports and asked what steps the department has taken to reduce the distance between schools.
Commission chairman Justice G K Vyas directed the department to submit its reply by July 18.
The media report highlighted the pathetic condition of school buildings, particularly in the Kota division and Ajmer.
Though schools every year sent reports seeking budgets for repairs, they seldom get funds. When they get some funds, it has become too less to meet the expense of repair works.
According to the reports the backward Baran district has a maximum number 36 dilapidated school buildings while the condition of schools in Kota, Bundi, and Jhalawar is no better. tnn
