Upper Castes Demand To Raise Ews Quota From 10% To 14% | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Members of upper caste gathered in huge numbers in support of their demands at Kesariya Mahapanchayat in the city here on Sunday at Vidhyadhar Nagar stadium. Though majority of the MLAs both from BJP and Congress distanced themselves from the event, MLAs and minister from Uttar Pradesh gathered at the event.
Majority of the speakers emphasised on the need of increasing the reservation of economically weaker section (EWS) of upper caste from existing 10% to 14% and demanded a quota for EWS in panchayati raj elections too.
Since morning people mainly from Rajput community clad in traditional cloths and Kesariya turban started gathering at the Vidhyadhar Nagar stadium from all parts of Rajasthan. Organised by various outfits of Rajput community including Shree Rastriya Rajput Karni Sena the event saw a large number of people in support for various demands. At the Mahapanchayat various religious gurus were also invited who addressed the event.
President of Shree Rastriya Rajput Karni Sena, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, addressing at the mahpanchayat said, “This is not a political platform as we have saints and priests sitting. We had invited every MLA and minister in Rajasthan to convey our demands. Our main demands included – reservation of EWS quota to be increased from 10% to 14%, EWS of upper caste should get recruitment in the centre government services and laws should be made for protection of saints and priests on the lines of lawyers.”
Gogamedi also advocated on the need of constituted regional public welfare board.
“The mahapanchyat is not only confined to the Rajput community as we are joined by the members of upper caste. This is a historical event in which we have witnessed kids, senior citizens and women who have come to support demands for EWS,” he added.
Gogamedi also urged the government to take strict action against who distort the history for their vested interest.
“There are people who become claimant of Lord Rama, Maharana Pratap and other,” he added.
In his address Gogamedi also demanded the government to withdraw false cases lodged against the members of Rajput community which were lodged during Anand Pal Singh encounter case.
Others who attended the event included minister of states in Uttar Pradesh government Raghuraj Singh, BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh Brijbhushan Singh and the local BJP MLA from Vidhyadhar Nagar Narpat Singh Rajvi.
