US call centre fraud: ED raids in Rajasthan, other states | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Teams from the city zonal office of the enforcement directorate (ED) conducted raids in 14 places in the state and country on Tuesday, including Jaipur, Nagaur, Mathura, Lucknow and Kanpur, in connection with the multi-crore cheating case of US citizens by promising them loans.
The fraud came to light in 2020 and the Jaipur police arrested 23 members of the gang for duping foreign nationals through international call centres, operating from places such as Mohali.
The Jaipur ED office took up the case as the kingpins in the multi-crore fraud, Mehmood Khan and Ramzan Khan, were from Nagaur. They allegedly ran the call centre, Skyway Inet Solution Pvt Ltd, from various cities and duped US citizens by promising loans.
“Raids continued till late in the evening. So far, we have collected incriminating evidence, including laptops, bank account and property details, among others,” said an ED officer. The house of Shamsher Khan Munna, the sadar of Sufi Sahab ki Dargah in Nagaur, was raided at 7.30am. He is the brother of the accused Mehmood Khan.
According to ED sources, the racket invested the money from the fraud in land and in other parts of the country. ED had registered a case in 2020 under sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and started investigation.
