Veggie Prices: Veggie Prices Continue To Soar, Respite Likely By Sept First Week | Jaipur News

Though a minor dip in prices of tomatoes is seen as a big relief for homemakers, prices of most of the vegetables have risen.
Traders at Muhana mandi on Thursday said that by the first week of September when the supply of vegetables would increase, there would be a drop in the prices of vegetables, especially tomatoes and ginger.
“The supply of tomatoes from Nasik (Maharashtra), Kullu and other districts of Himachal Pradesh has started. On Tuesday, tomatoes were sold at Rs 70 per kg in the wholesale market and Rs 180 per kg in the retail market. Hopefully, if good supply will continue in next one week, prices of tomatoes will further drop,” said Qasim Khan, a wholesale dealer of tomatoes at Muhana mandi.
“By the first week of September when the locally harvested tomatoes will come, its retail prices would be normal between Rs 40-50 per kilogram,” said Kalu Ram Kumawat, another wholesale dealer at Muhana mandi.
Prices of ginger are still Rs 300 to Rs 320 per kg in the retail market. “By the first week of September, fresh ginger will arrive,” said Rahul Tanwar, president of the Muhana mandi.
