Jaipur: Though demands were not met, the veterinary doctors have called off their long strike.
A delegation of veterinarians from the state met chief minister Ashok Gehlot at his residence on Thursday.
The animal husbandry department stated that the CM has assured to examine the suggestions of the delegation and take appropriate action. After this the veterinary organisations announced to end the strike.
“Gehlot said that the state government is committed to the welfare of employees including veterinary doctors. Keeping in mind the humanitarian approach, the government has implemented the Old Pension Scheme for the employees,” the department stated in a statement.
The veterinary doctors had called for a total strike and withdrew from services demanding NPA (non-practice allowance). TNN

Nigerian delegation in state to learn about rice fortification
A high-level delegation from Nigeria, facilitated by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), visited Odisha to learn from the state’s experience on rice fortification. The aim is to kick-start a rice fortification pilot project in Kebbi state using the school feeding program. This visit is part of Nigeria’s national strategy to address micronutrient deficiencies.
