Vidyut Nigam Cmd Gets 1-year Extension | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The department of energy on Saturday extended the tenure of R K Sharma as the chairman and managing director (CMD) of the Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (RVUN) for a period of one year.
In compliance with the order, Sharma has taken over the charge of CMD at Vidyut Bhawan, Jaipur. The TOI on January 31 had reported that the power department, while struggling to generate enough electricity as per demand, is also facing the additional challenge of completing routine operations in the absence of top officials. While, extension has been given to the CMD, posts of director (technical), director (projects) and director (finance) at RVUNL continue to remain vacant.
The director (power trading) has also not been appointed at Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited. The post of director (technical) at Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (RVPN) and director at Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission have also not been filled yet.
“The decisions are pending at the state government’s level. In absence of top brass, work is affected as the whole-time directors’ meeting cannot be convened. Since senior-level managers oversee the agencies’ daily operations, the decision making and policy devising processes are being affected,” said a senior official, wishing not to be named.
In power companies, the technical director prepares reports on technical matters and forwards it to the managing director.
The director also does the work of giving advice and suggestions on technical matters in board meetings. In Jaipur and Ajmer discoms as well as in RVPN and RVUN, the posts are lying vacant since October 15 last since the directors completed their tenures. “A proposal to make appointments to fill the other vacant posts at the earliest has been sent to the state government as the work is suffering,” said a senior official of the department.
