Walled City: Walled City Traders Meet Senior Officers Over Traffic Problems | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Traders from Jaipur Vyapaar Mahasangh on Monday met additional commissioner traffic Rahul Prakash at Jaipur commissionerate and discussed traffic problems of the Walled City.
The delegation submitted a memorandum with details of issues like closure of road cuts in the Walled City markets, lack of parking facilities, traffic congestion due to e-rickshaws, etc.
“As most of the roads are one-way and road cuts are closed, vehicles have to travel a long distance to go from one side to the other. The traffic department should open road cuts where necessary,” said a member from the traders’ body.
Subhash Goyal, president of the mahasangh, said, “Despite the rule of two hours’ parking for four wheelers here, many vehicles remain parked the entire day. This blocks parking facilities for others. There should be markings for vehicles in the markets at 45-degree angle, which will help in parking of more vehicles.”
He further raised the issue of “abundance” of e-rickshaws in the Walled City.
“Due to the excess of e-rickshaws, there is traffic jam all the time, especially at crossings and major markets,” said Goyal.
