Netflix: Most Mawa Samples Fail Test Due To Low Content Of Fat | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Most mawa samples tested recently in laboratory failed due to low content of fat and were categorised as sub-standard. Health department officials have intensified efforts to prevent sale of adulterated and sub-standard mawa ahead of Diwali.
A health department official said, “In the laboratory test, it has been found that 25% of the samples failed quality test due to low content of fat in it.”
The official said that the fat content in mawa should be 30% but in tests, it has been found that the manufacturers of mawa are taking out fat and using it for making ghee or any other purpose.
“In some of the samples, the content of fat was as low as 15%. It shows that the manufacturers are taking out fat from the milk before making mawa,” said the official.
The health department has issued directions to collect samples of milk and milk products ahead of Diwali.
Besides, the official said that few samples failed quality test and were categorized as sub-standard sine they contained vegetable oil, but such cases are few.
“In some samples, it has been found that the manufacturers add vegetable oil to increase the fat content in mawa,” said the official.
Recently, the health department issued clear directions to the food safety officers not to be negligent in achieving the targets for enforcement of Food Safety Act ahead of Diwali and marriage season, failing which may invite disciplinary action.

CIIMS study reveals no Covid traces in wastewater samples
A study conducted by the Advanced Research Centre of the GM Taori Central Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (CIIMS) in Nagpur has found that the presence of the Covid virus in the city’s wastewater has become almost negligible. The study has been examining untreated wastewater samples for Covid and other viruses as part of its public health surveillance efforts. The research centre has been collecting samples from 25 sites across the city every week. The study indicates that the current surge in viral and infectious diseases in the population is not attributable to the Covid virus but rather to other viruses. The researchers believe that wastewater surveillance can potentially predict future pandemics in advance.
