JAISALMER: On the second night of her wedding, at around 3am, Surajmal Jain’s (32) bride climbed to the terrace of her huband’s house near the Jain temple in Dhani Bazar mohalla of Barmer city, with a mattress and pillows she had brought from her bedroom. These she threw down from the terrace onto the road, and then herself jumped from the terrace upon them.

Barmer SP Digant Anand said that Jain filed a complaint at Kotwali police station the same day, on October 3. According to his complaint, a relative of Jain had introduced him to Prateek Sagar also known as Arjun, a resident of Jodhpur, four months ago.
Arjun described himself as a businessman and said he had a niece, Ragini, 30, who was in need of a suitable match. Jain agreed to Arjun’s proposal of marrying Ragini. After this, Arjun called Ragini to Barmer on September 29 along with three-four other people whom Arjun described as Ragini’s parents and relatives. Jain and Ragini got married on October 1.

She told her name as Ragini, wife of Ramesh Singh Rajput. GRP outpost in-charge Kanchan Rathore and constables Banshilal and Kavita interrogated the woman and she confessed to having robbed Jain, Shrimali said.
