Covid-19: India reports 39,796 new cases, 723 deaths in last 24 hrs | India News

NEW DELHI: India on Monday reported 39,796 daily new Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, pushing the country’s total tally to 30,585,229, according to data from the Union health ministry at 9am. This is second time in a week when the daily new cases have gone below 40,000 mark. On June 29, the country reported 37,566 new Covid cases.

In last 24 hours, 723 more people lost their lives to Covid. With this, the total death tally has surged to 4,02,728.

With 42,352 more people recovering in the last 24 hours, daily recoveries continued to outnumber the daily new cases for 53rd consecutive day. The number of total people recuperated from Covid stands at 29,700,430, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, the active caseload has further declined to 4,82,071, constituting 1.55% of total infections.

According to health ministry, daily positivity rate stands at 2.61%, which is less than 5% for 28 consecutive days The weekly positive rate stands at 2.40%.
A total of 15,22,504 samples were tested yesterday for detection of Covid-19. So far, the country has tested a total of 41,97,77,457 samples, as per Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
As many as 35,28,92,046 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
