Woman Dies After 7th Delivery In Karauli, Kin Alleges Negligence | Jaipur News
Jaipur: A 30-year-old woman, identified as Reso Bairwa, died while giving birth to seventh child during her seventh delivery on Tuesday in Karauli’s Nanpur village.
Ironically, the high-risk pregnancy was assisted by a compounder of the government-run Karanpur community health centre (CHC) in the district instead of a doctor. The family alleged that she died because of negligence by the doctor and staff of Karanpur CHC.
Meanwhile, health officials confirmed that the woman died of postpartum hemorrhage (PPH). It was a normal delivery but within couple of hours, the woman died due to excessive bleeding. Following the incident the state government has sent a doctor, a compounder and a nurse of Karanpur CHC to awaiting posting orders (APO).
District collector Ankit Singh constituted a five-member team to investigate into the matter on Wednesday, which has submitted its report. “In the report, doctor Radheshyam Bairwa, compounder Nathu Singh Meena and nurse Manisha Bai Meena have been found involved in carelessness. Based on the report, they have been sent to APO,” Singh told TOI.
Woman’s family had taken her to Karanpur CHC on May 29, where the doctors examined her.
“In the investigation it has been found that the doctors and the CHC staff examined her and sent her back home saying that the delivery time has not arrived, and it will take another 4-5 days. However, the woman suffered labour pain on the same day and she reached the same Karanpur CHC in the evening,” said Dr Dinesh Chand Meena, chief medical health officer (CMHO).
“Despite the woman reaching hospital, she was not attended by the doctor, and instead a compounder assisted her in the delivery,” said Dr Deepak Meena, reproduction and child health officer (Karauli) and one of the five members of the committee investigating the incident.
However, he said, “It could be the desire of a son which led to a seventh pregnancy. The woman had four daughters and a son, and she gave birth to another son but she died.
Her one son had died earlier. It was a high-risk pregnancy due to repeated pregnancies. She could have been attended in a proper way due to high-risk pregnancy.”
The woman belonged to Nanpur. Son of sarpanch Moti Bai, Bablu Meena said, “I reached the spot after the death of the woman. No doctor attended her. I forced them (CHC officials) to shift the newborn to Karauli’s district hospital for his care.”
Meena said, “The family members told me that the hospital staff was partying on the rooftop. They rushed to get help of the staff but no one came and a compounder helped her in delivery, which led to the woman’s death.”
