Woman gang leader held after 50km car chase in Jaisalmer | Jodhpur News

JAISALMER: Jaisalmer police on Sunday said they had busted a Bawaria gang involved in a theft of 42 tolas of gold from a house on March 2, arresting the woman leader of the gang after a car chase over 50 km.
To catch her, police searched around a 400-km area and checked 200 CCTVs. She was produced in court which handed her over to police remand.
SP Bhanwar Singh Nathawat said that on March 3, Aarab Khan, resident of Sanawada and currently staying in Chain Vihar colony Pokhran, gave a report that on March 2 his entire family had gone to Sanawada to attend a marriage in the morning and when they returned in the evening, the lock of the house was found broken and 42 tolas of gold had been stolen. Police traced the theft to Lakhsma Devi, resident of Phulera. She was found to be in Jaipur district and when police went to arrest her, she fled driving a car.
Police chased and caught her. Police found a catapult and equipment used for breaking locks in her car. The SP said that the Bawaria gang that Laksma Devi headed is suspected to be involved in other crimes.
There were cases of loot, theft, etc, in many police stations against Lakshma Devi and her husband Danaram. Other accused have been identified and will be arrested soon, the SP said.
