Woman Hangs Four-year-old Daughter, Kills Self In Kalwar | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: A 30-year-old woman hanged her four-year-old daughter before taking her own life in a similar manner late on Tuesday night in Kalwar. Police said that the suicide victim was identified as Sunita Devi and her daughter Usma. She also tried to allegedly hang her other daughter, but she survived.
SHO (Kalwar) RP Singh said that the woman’s parents have alleged that she ended her life after being harassed over dowry demands.
“The family has alleged that she had filed a report at different police stations in the past about the same issue,” he said.
Police said that the incident took place sometime shortly after 9pm. She had gotten married to her husband Mukesh Kumar back in 2018. However, the family alleged that there was a domestic dispute between the couple, due to which fights would break out between them on a regular basis.
Police said that a team of forensic experts also collected samples from the house on Tuesday.
The bodies will be handed over to the family after the post-mortem. The officials said that Kumar works as a cab driver and he will be questioned about what led to the woman taking the extreme step. “The woman’s family has filed an FIR, which we quickly registered. Acting on the allegations, a police team will investigate the matter once her last rites are completed,” said an official.
