World Cup: Ngo, Univ Join Hands To Curb Road Accidents |

Jaipur: Looking to the increasing number of accidents in Jaipur and in other cities of Rajasthan, an NGO specializing in traffic safety along with civil engineering and forensic science departments of a Jaipur-based university would jointly conduct research and find out possible solutions. The research papers and the solutions would be shared with Rajasthan Police to implement them.
“Road accident data in Rajasthan is showing an increasing trend. We would carry out research on road accidents in both urban and rural areas of the state. The report would be shared with police and road owning agencies to reduce the possibilities of road accidents,” said Neha Khullar, projects director of Muskaan.
Recently, Muskaan had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Vivekananda Global University (VGU) to carry out research related to road accidents in Rajasthan. This MoU aims to enhance road safety and reduce accidents through research, community involvement and youth education.
“We are going to utilize forensic science and civil engineering departments of the university to identify black spots and vulnerable spots which are prone to accidents. In addition, we are going to promote traffic safety related awareness among local communities and would also educate youths on two-wheeler driver safety,” added Khullar.
In 2022, Rajasthan recorded 23,614 road accident cases compared to 20,951 cases in 2021. While 10,040 people died in road accidents in 2021, 11,104 people died in 2022.
