Jaipur: Now, Aadhaar will only be issued at selected centres in the state. Additionally, approximately 4,000 Aadhaar centres will no longer be able to facilitate new Aadhaar registrations or major corrections.
The Department of Information Technology and Communication (DOITC) has initiated the process of transitioning the machines at these centres to UCL mode from Enrolment Client Multiple Platform (ECMP) mode through Equal-Cost Multi-Path (ECMP) routing software.Alongside this, people will now need to visit district and block-level individual centres to obtain a new Aadhaar registration or make significant changes.
According to DOITC officials, after this change, Aadhaar operators will no longer have the ability to make any alterations to the Aadhaar card. “They can only change the mobile number and address in the Aadhaar card. However, services at Aadhaar centers operated on ECMP software by DOITC, apart from district and block-level Aadhaar centres, in education departments, post offices, and banks will continue to operate as before.”
Facilities will be available at only 1,700 centers. An official mentioned that after receiving instructions from the central agency UIDAI to transition more than 4,000 Aadhaar machines in the state to UCL mode from ECMP mode through ECEMP software, these changes are being implemented.
However, services at around 1,700 Aadhaar centers operated by the education department, post offices, and banks at the block and district levels, in addition to Aadhaar centres, will continue to issue new Aadhaar cards and provide correction services as before.
Aadhaar operators state that until now, they had the right to create new Aadhaar cards for those under 18, change photos, names, and birth dates at Aadhaar centres. However, these rights have now been restricted.
“Operators are facing a critical situation. They can neither create new Aadhaar cards nor change anyone’s photo. The general public is troubled, and people are forced to visit Aadhaar centres every day,” said one of the operator.

People eligible for Aadhaar can enrol using iris scan if fingerprint unavailable: Govt

This intervention was made by Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar to ensure the enrolment of Josymol P Jose, a woman in Kerala who did not have fingers. A team from UIDAI visited her home and generated her Aadhaar number. The government has sent an advisory to all Aadhaar Service Kendras to issue Aadhaar to individuals who have blurred fingerprints or similar disabilities, using alternate biometrics. UIDAI has already issued Aadhaar numbers to nearly 2.9 million people with missing fingers or unable to provide finger or iris biometrics.
