T-114 Died In Turf War, Multiple Injury Marks On Body: Autopsy | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: Tigress T-114, the mother of three cubs, died in a territorial fight, revealed the autopsy report on Wednesday.
The carcass of the tigress, which was recovered in Todara forest block on Tuesday, was two days’ old. A senior official said, “There were multiple injury marks on its body and died in a territorial fight. The body was cremated after constituting a medical board as per the protocol.”
On Tuesday, the six-year-old tigress was found dead along with one of her cubs in Phalodi range of Ranthambore National Park. There is a possibility of a tigress fighting with a tiger to save the cubs. “The cubs were born from the second litter of tigress. An experienced mother usually does not abandon its young cubs for a long period.”
Forest officials said the cub that died was physically weaker in comparison to its siblings. After rain and hailstorm for the last two days, there has been a sudden change in the weather pattern. There was intense cold and in such a situation, the cub could not survive and died. On April 3, 2021, tigress T-114, which is the daughter of tigress T-13, was spotted with two cubs for the first time in the park. The two surviving cubs were rescued and safely sent to the Abheda Biological Park in Kota.
A senior official said, the decision was taken after chief wildlife warden (CWLW) constituted a committee as per the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA’s) protocol. TNN
