Vice Chancellor: Panel Sends 5 Names To Governor For Ru V-c | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The search committee for appointment of vice chancellor (VC) at Rajasthan University (RU) has sent five names to governor Kalraj Mishra. This time, a woman candidate is also being considered, and if selected, then RU will get its first female vice chancellor.
The search committee has given the names of Prof BR Bamania from Mohanlal Sukhadia University Udaipur, Prof Rajesh Singh who is the former vice chancellor of DDU Gorakhpur University, Prof Navin Mathur who is a retired professor from University of Rajasthan, Prof Alpana Kateja who is currently with the department of Economics at University of Rajasthan and Prof Ramesh Chandra, vice chancellor of Maharaja Surajmal Brij University.
“The search committee sent the names last week and final appointment of vice chancellor for the university is pending. This time a woman candidate is also being considered and she is a strong candidate. If selected, then RU will get its first female vice chancellor. With the appointment of the vice chancellor, administrative and academic work in the university will hopefully get back on track,” said a senior professor from the university.
In RU, appointment of principals in three constituent colleges is pending since a month. The post of head of department for three departments is vacant along with dean for commerce and science.
“Academic work in colleges gets affected without a principal, in departments research work is getting affected without an HOD; with the appointment of vice-chancellor, these issues will get streamlined and proper work can start in the university again. Already with implementation of National Education Policy, the academic session has been delayed this year,” said Prof Sanjay Kumar, president of Rajasthan University Teachers’ Association.
The tenure of former vice chancellor of RU Rajeev Jain, ended on September 8, after which, Prof KL Shrivastava, vice chancellor of Jai Narayan Vyas University Jodhpur was given the additional charge by the governor.
The principal of constituent colleges of the university is appointed by the vice chancellor, which the former VC did not do before his term ended. During Jain’s tenure, teachers also protested a few times when seniority was not followed for appointment of principals of constituent colleges.
