Jaipur: Darshana Jardosh, the Union minister of state for railways and textiles, said on Friday that India is rapidly moving towards women-led development. Speaking at the second Women 20 International meeting being held in the city, she emphasised that India’s G20 presidency can unite the entire world in pursuit of common goals and wellbeing for all, demonstrating the true spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
W20 India Chair Dr Sandhya Purecha said the meeting of Women 20 is critical for ameliorating the gender divide and achieving the objective of gender equity. Elvira Morasco, from W20 Italy, shared stories of successful entrepreneurial ventures founded by women in Italy that made a positive impact in their local community.
Former UN official Bharati Ghosh, a former IPS officer, said that grassroots leadership is very significant by virtue of its origin at the grassroots. She spoke about Digital Sarthaks, the women who used technological solutions to aid people during waves of Covid-19.
Virginia Littlejohn, founder of Quantum Leaps, co-head of W20 US Delegation, suggested creating a Women Entrepreneurs Finance Code and a policy framework to provide impetus to a women’s entrepreneurship ecosystem.
