Minor Girl: Minor girl accuses parents of selling her for ₹20 lakh | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: A minor girl aged 16 and residing in Kanjar Mohalla, falling under the Shakargarh police station in Bhilwara, on Friday filed a case against her parents, accusing them of trading her for Rs 20 lakh.
In her report, the girl alleged that her parents intended to sell her into prostitution in Gwalior for a sum ranging between Rs 15 and Rs 20 lakh. This is not the first time she has faced such a situation. Earlier, she was sold in Dablana, from where she managed to escape with great difficulty. She further alleged that her parents are now attempting to trade her once again. The girl expressed her desire to marry and establish her own household, appealing to the police administration for protection against her parents and seeking police protection for her safety.
After the investigation, the police have refuted the allegation of trading the girl. The police administration on Friday night also presented the girl before the child welfare committee (CWC), where she initially wanted to live with her parents; however, in the morning, she changed her statement. A senior police official said, “The girl is married; however, she wants to live with another man. In the community, when the girl is married, the man pays a sum to the woman’s family.”
In front of the CWC, the police also requested to send the girl to an observation home, but she refused to go and went with the family.
Police said, the matter was investigated properly, as last year the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) had to issue a notice to the state government after reports were published that women were sold in Rajasthan. The Rajasthan police chief was also issued a notice for a detailed report on the prosecution of the perpetrators of such crimes, their abettors, and sympathisers. “NHRC had sought details of the status of cases, charge sheets, arrests, etc,” said a senior police official.
