Modi Inaugurates Five Medical Colleges In Raj | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Prime minister Narendra Modi on Thursday virtually inaugurated five new medical colleges at Chittorgarh, Dholpur, Sirohi, Sikar and Sriganganagar, developed at a cumulative cost of more than Rs 1,400 crore. He also laid the foundation stone for seven medical colleges at Baran, Bundi, Karauli, Jhunjhunu, Sawai Madhopur, Jaisalmer and Tonk from Sikar. The seven medical colleges for which foundation stone was laid down, will be built at a cumulative cost of Rs 2,275 crore.

“The government has paved a way to teach medical education in ‘mother tongue’,” said Modi, while pointing out that now it will not happen that a son or daughter of a poor family will be deprived of medical education just because he or she does not know English.
The new medical colleges will increase the MBBS seats in the state significantly. The 12 new medical colleges would increase the number of MBBS seats in the state to 6,275 seats from 1,750 seats in 2013-14, which would be a 258% increase.
