Paper Leak Case: 51 Lakh, Gold Recovered From Katara Home | Jaipur News
JAIPUR/UDAIPUR: The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan Police on Thursday recovered cash of over Rs 51 lakh and 541 gram of gold jewellery from the house of arrested Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) member Babu Lal Katara in Dungarpur district.
SOG said that money was related to the senior teacher paper leak case. Police teams also recovered a gold bracelet from the house of Katara’s nephew, Vijay.
The bracelet was gifted to Vijay by another accused, suspended vice-principal Anil Kumar Meena alias Sher Singh, said sources.
Katara, his driver Gopal Singh and nephew Vijay were arrested on Tuesday for their alleged involvement in the senior teachers’ recruitment examination paper leak case.
The probe by SOG so far has indicated that Katara, as an RPSC member, was assigned to set the question papers of the senior teachers’ recruitment examination, which he had leaked for Rs 60 lakh.
Officials said that Babu Lal Katara had handed over the questions to Meena, who then delivered them to other main culprits of the racket, Bhupendra Saran and Suresh Kumar Dhaka.
Sources said that investigators on Thursday also quizzed multiple persons including a family member of Katara.
While police have not announced any fresh arrests in the case yet, SOG teams conducted multiple searches in connection with the case on Thursday.
The general knowledge (GK) examination, which was to be held on December 24 last, had to be cancelled after it was discovered that the question paper was leaked a few hours before the examination was to begin.
The investigation agency had suspected from the very beginning that the question paper might have been leaked from the commission, which was holding the examinations.
Sources said that more suspects may soon be quizzed in the paper leak case.
