Jaipur: The Jaipur division of the north western railway on Thursday suspended a gateman for delay in closing the railway crossing gate at Imli Phatak, which is on the busy Sahakar Marg, when a train had to pass through.
On Wednesday evening, the gateman did not lower the barricade on time, due to which the train had to halt and wait on the tracks.
Officials said an inquiry has been initiated in the matter. “We have suspended the gateman and initiated an investigation. According to rules, the loco pilot does not get the green signal to go through a crossing till the barricade is completely lowered. In this case too, the loco pilot stopped as there was a red signal and waited for the gateman to close the barricade to block traffic,” said Mukesh Saini, senior divisional commercial manager, Jaipur.
