Jaisalmer: Kidnapping cases are on the rise in Barmer district. Around seven incidents of abduction have been reported in the last 2-3 months. Now, two such incidents took place in Barmer city in a span of 15 hours.
The first incident occurred on Sunday evening in which a girl’s family members, irked by her love marriage, kidnapped her husband and beat him up. He was then taken 25-30kms outside the city left there. The youth is undergoing treatment at the district hospital. Police are searching for the attackers.
According to Barmer city SHO Ugamraj Soni, Moti Singh and his friend Neemb Singh was passing through ROI Colony road on motorcycle, when 4-5 persons in an SUV hit them. They then forced Moti to come with them in the vehicle and left. Police was alerted and began searching for him. According to sources, Moti and Renu fell in love while studying in the same school. They had an Arya Samaj wedding on December 14, 2019. However, Renu’s parents were angry and took her away.
On October 2, 2021 Moti lodged a report at the Kotwali police station after which Renu appeared before the police and agreed to stay with her parents. In January this year Renu moved in with Moti which angered her family and they decided to teach Moti a lesson.
In another incident on Monday, five persons, beat up a man and abducted his son in Vakalpur village. They then beat the son also and left him outside the village. Police are looking for culprits. Prima facie, according to police, an old enmity led to the crime.
