Woman, 2 minor sons stabbed to death at their Jhalana home | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: A 23-year-old woman and her two sons, aged five and two, were on Wednesday murdered by a masked assailant in their house in Jhalana area in what police suspect to be an act orchestrated by someone known to the family.
The victims were identified as Suman Bisht, her sons Jivyansh, 5, and Havyansh, 2, said DCP (East) Gyan Chandra Yadav. The three victims suffered multiple stabbing wounds to their necks, backs, and chests, and a pistol was recovered from the crime scene, he added.A preliminary probe indicates that the killer might have fired two rounds, too.
“Whether the shots were directed at the victims remains uncertain, and only the post-mortem reports will ascertain if the victims had firearm injuries,” said Yadav.
Police said the motive behind the triple murder remains unclear. “The house is located at an intersection of narrow alleys, which makes it impossible for a stranger to be familiar with its entire layout. The accused seems to have known that Suman was on the first floor of the house,” said a police official.
After killing the three, the assailant escaped from the first floor, leaving behind his fallen pistol, said police sources. Suman’s husband, Laxman, who sells coconuts near Apex Circle, was away during the attack and reported to have rushed to his house after learning of the incident.
CCTV footage captured the suspect clad in a black winter jacket, a woollen cap, and a black bandana covering his face, and racing away from the scene. Investigators, however, are yet to trace a footage of the suspect heading towards the house.
“Laxman’s family migrated from Uttarakhand, and he has been living in the house with his family, including his wife, children, mother, sister, and brother,” said an official.
The DCP (East) said Suman’s mother-in-law, who lives on the ground floor, claimed to have seen a young man jumping down from the first floor and running away. Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Kailash Chandra Bishnoi also reached Malviya Nagar police station to question potential suspects.
Sources said that some youths living as tenants and working in local cafes will also be quizzed. Police said they are investigating the case from all probable angles, which includes checking records of previous tenants who lived in the house.
