Jaisalmer: Protests Against Discom As Two Farmers Electrocuted | Jaipur News
Jaisalmer: Two farmers died of electrocution on Wednesday in Jaisalmer and Barmer districts from live high-tension cables lying on the ground.
In both cases, family members and villagers blamed the government’s power distribution company (discom) and held protests, demanding compensation.
In Undkha village in Barmer district, Sardararam, 75, resident of Jalaniyon Ki Dhani, was grazing his cattle when he accidently touched a live cable lying on the ground and died on the spot. In Masuriya village in Jaisalmer, 22-year-old Mahendra Singh died of electrocution from a transmission line that had fallen on his field during a storm on June 6. Villagers demonstrated and shouted slogans against the discom. tnn
