Harassed By Money Lenders, Contractor Jumps Before Train | Jaipur News
KOTA: Harassment by money lenders allegedly forced a 48-year-old contractor to jump before a moving train near Dakaniya station under Anantpura police station on Monday night.
Police filed a case of abetment to suicide against two identified persons and handed over the body to family members after post-mortem on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Mohanlal Meghwal, a resident of Sursagar Colony under Anantpura police station in Kota city who. He is survived by his wife, three daughters and a son.
Following information of a runover by train around 9pm, police rushed to the tracks near Bhamasha Mandi and recovered the mutilated body of Meghwal, Anantpura SHO Pushpendra Jhajharia said.
On a report by Meghwal’s daughter and brother, police lodged a case of abetment to suicide against two persons, Rajat Pal and Paras Pal, and sections of SC/ST Act and further investigation in the matter was forwarded to circle officer DSP Mukul Sharma.
The kin in their report alleged two persons had extorted Rs 8 lakh and Rs 3 lakh and were further demanding Rs 5 lakh, Jhajharia said.
“My father had borrowed Rs 3 lakh a few years ago and repaid Rs 8 lakh with interest but the money lenders, Rajat Pal and Paras Pal, both residents of Devashish City in Borekheda, had been consistently harassing my father and mounting pressure to further pay Rs 5 lakh,” Sushmita Verma, one of daughters of Meghwal, claimed.
