Jaisalmer: In a joint operation, a fake policeman was arrested at Doli toll plaza in Balotra district with 241kg doda post, 10kg opium milk and a loaded pistol on Wednesday night. Police also recovered multiple fake number plates and name plates of judges, ACB, human rights commission etc. from his seized SUV.
DCP west Gaurav Yadav said that following the directions of state headquarters, a special campaign was launched against narcotics and illegal weapons and a special action plan was undertaken along with Balotra police. He said that on Wednesday night, Jodhpur DST West in-charge informed that a vehicle was coming in which the driver was wearing police sub-inspector uniform and carrying huge quantities of narcotics and illegal weapons.
Yadav shared that when the vehicle was stopped, the accused, identified as smuggler Dinesh Singh (38) tried to run over the police team and hit the police vehicle. Police then chased the vehicle and arrested the accused, who is a resident of Rajbera Doli in Barmer district. Police are inquiring him about the dealings and investigating the case.
Balotra SP Harishanker said the joint operation of Kalyanpur police of Balotra, Kudi Bhagtasani police and Jodhpur DST West, succeeded in catching a fake policeman.
