Sms Discharging Patients Despite Their Eyesight Loss | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The ordeal of 18 patients, infected with pseudomonas bacteria post eye surgery at SMS Hospital, is yet to be over as the hospital has started discharging them without improvement in their condition. The hospital has already discharged half of them.
Naseeb Khan, neighbour of Kedar Prasad in Ranoli village of Tonk, accompanied him to the hospital on Wednesday. “He was discharged on Monday and he was called back today. We started off from our village Ranoli in Tonk district. As he cannot see from one eye, I accompanied him for the follow-up. He is not fine as he cannot see from his operated eye. Despite this he has been discharged and asked to come to hospital for follow-up checkups. It is difficult to come frequently from our village in Tonk but we have no option left,” said Khan, who added that the wife of Kedar Prasad, Gayatri, is a MREGA worker and Kedar works as a tea staff.
Om Prakash, 57, from Amarsar in Jaipur rural, is not ready to go back home, even though the hospital had discharged him on Wednesday. “They have asked us to go home and come back tomorrow. We are not going anywhere. We will stay here only,” said his son Rahul Sharma.
Sharma said, “My father cannot see from the operated eye. He was operated on June 26 and since then his life has become difficult. He has been staying in the hospital since June 27, but still he has no vision. We do not know what will happen now.”
The attendants of the patients with pseudomonas eye infection pointed out that each day, the hospital is discharging two to three patients, despite no improvement in their vision. They are being called back for follow-up examination.
Majority of the patients belong to rural areas. Geeta. 55, from Sawai Madhopur was admitted to the hospital on July 4. “She could see for seven days post surgery which was conducted on June 26, but after seven days, she could not see from the operated eye,” said Ramesh Chand Bairwa, a labourer who belongs to a rural area.
