Glaucoma: Jamwaramgarh Near Jaipur Logs 1st Dengue Death This Yr | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The death of a 68-year-old man from Jamwaramgarh near Jaipur is the first dengue mortality in the state this year. The patient was brought to SMS Hospital in a critical condition on July 29. His condition continued to deteriorate despite the best efforts by doctors, and he died on July 31, said health department officials on Wednesday.

Doctors at SMS Hospital said dengue can cause a thickening of the gallbladder wall, water retention in lungs, reduced heartbeat, falling blood pressure, myocarditis, encephalitis and ascites. Since dengue cases tend to rise during this period of the year, doctors urged people to take precautions.
With the recent rains having created breeding grounds for mosquitoes across the state, there has been a spike in dengue cases from 689 to 983 over the past 13 days (from July 18 to July 31). There were 689 dengue cases reported in the state from January 1 to July 18.

While in Jaipur, 164 people had tested positive for dengue from January 1 to July 18, as many as 68 others tested positive for the viral fever in these 13 days, taking the tally to 232.
“Dengue is a preventable disease. People should check that mosquitoes are not breeding anywhere,” said Dr Vijay Singh, the chief medical health officer, Jaipur -I.
