Firms Say Use Of Recycled Plastic Is Rare In Jaipur | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Manufacturers dealing with recycled plastic bags here have claimed its use is very low in the state capital.
They claimed they find it quite difficult to procure used recycled plastic bags so that they can recycle those.
“The civic bodies are carrying out drives against single-use plastic bags. But the use of recycled plastic bags has not increased. May be because consumers are switching over to jute or cloth bags,” said Ankur Agarwal, who runs a plastic bag manufacturing unit here.
Manufactures said a good quality plastic bag/wrapper/packet is good for one-time use. But once they start recycling them, their condition begins to deteriorate.
These manufactures buy these used one at Rs 20 a kg. They then grind it into powder and make products out of this.
“For every 100kg of recycled plastic, we lose 10kg. We can recycle a packet 10 times and then we make products like toys,” said Mahesh Bageria, owner of a plastic unit.
Manufacturers said in other states like Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Kerala, the government and even shopkeepers encourage customers to sell the used recycle plastics. “This way, customers and shopkeepers are making money by selling used plastic and manufacturers are resourcing the used ones for recycling. But, such a practice is not seen in Rajasthan,” said Deepak Saini, from a water-management agency in Jaipur.
