Rain: Rain, Hailstorms Likely In Raj Till May 5: Met | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: Western disturbances and anti-cyclonic circulation in Pakistan and in Madhya Pradesh brought moderate rainfall and hailstorm at many places in Rajasthan on Sunday. An unusual drop of almost 10 °C on an average was witnessed in the state, making the weather pleasant in almost every district.
This Sunday afternoon was the coldest this April. Chittorgarh remained the hottest with a maximum temperature of 33.9 °C. Rainfall and hailstorms that started at many places on Saturday evening continued with mild to moderate showers at many places. The rainfall lasted for over an hour in many districts. After a gap, drizzling resumed at 6pm.
Jaipur Met office said that many places are likely to get dust storms with a velocity of 30 km/hour to 40 km/hour on Monday. The minimum temperature in the morning in Jaipur was 23.2 °C, almost 1.3 degrees below the normal. It was followed by the coldest afternoon of this April with a maximum temperature of 29.5 °C. By 5pm, many districts, including Nagaur and Tonk, witnessed hailstorms.
“A maximum temperature of 40 °C to 42 °C is usually recorded in Jaipur. It was an unusual temperature on Sunday. Records need to be checked to see when Jaipur witnessed such a low maximum temperature last,” said Jaipur Met office director Radhey Shyam Sharma. This April has been unusual because the average maximum temperature this month has been 36 °C against the usual 42 °C, he added.
Most places in the state will witness dust storms, rainfall and hailstorms till May 5, said the Met.
